Mission Statement:
Land of the Frauds is a coalition of independent writers primarily focused on critiquing the systematic flaws of the American political system. While each individual writer may back a particular political movement, or hold certain ideological beliefs, this website will hold no such allegiances. LandoftheFrauds.com will simply serve as a platform & creative outlet.
Vision Statement
The United States of America was established under fraudulent pretenses. First and foremost, one must acknowledge the violent eradication of native peoples, and the land which was stolen from them in order to establish this country. Even if you were to assume the nation had the right to be formed in the first place, America has never lived up to its full promise or potential. Two of the founding documents, The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution, stand at odds with each other. The Declaration is extremely egalitarian, radically so, but the Constitution, with its recognition of slavery and its limits on the suffrage of the enslaved, is horrifically inegalitarian. The implication here is that America in principle, and America in practice, have been two very different things from the jump. This ideological dissonance is emblematic of modern day American hypocrisy and hubris.
This is not to suggest that our society will never meet that full potential, or that our systems cannot be improved upon, but to ignore our inherent flaws is unproductive and nonsensical. Land of the Frauds aims to provide political commentary, serious, satirical or otherwise, in order to cope with the current moment, and to build community around topics which truly matter to us.
